The Best Lawyers in Spain™ 2024 Awards Announced

For the 16th consecutive edition, Best Lawyers® is delighted to announce the prestigious The Best Lawyers in Spain™ awards, which encompass thousands of talented and experienced lawyers who have been recognized for their prowess by their equally gifted peers.

For the 16th edition of The Best Lawyers in Spain for 2024, Best Lawyers has honored 4,740 lawyers in 82 practice areas across 30 metropolitan areas in Spain. Madrid has the most recognized honorees.

Among the 82 practice areas with awarded lawyers, the top 10 with the most honorees are Corporate and Mergers and Acquisitions Law, Tax Law, Litigation, Labor and Employment Law, Banking and Finance Law, Insolvency and Reorganization Law, Administrative Law, Arbitration and Mediation, Real Estate Law and Intellectual Property Law.

Those seeking legal counsel in Spain searched the Best Lawyers website in several practice areas. The top five most searched for 2023 were Corporate and Mergers and Acquisitions Law, Litigation, Insolvency and Reorganization Law, Tax Law and Administrative Law.

“Lawyer of the Year” Awards

“Lawyer of the Year” awards recognize one lawyer in a particular practice area and location. The recognized lawyer has received the highest average of votes among their peers, making this award particularly respectable.

For 2024, Best Lawyers recognized 196 “Lawyer of the Year” recipients in 110 law firms across Spain. Firms with the most awarded recipients for 2024 include Cuatrecasas, Garrigues, Gómez-Acebo & Pombo and Uría Menéndez Abogados.

Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Spain™ 2024 Awards

Best Lawyers launched our newest award, Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch, in 2021. Since the initial success of the launch, we now issue awards in 14 countries, including Spain.

Lawyers who have been in private practice between three and eight years are eligible for a Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Spain nomination, and like the traditional Best Lawyers awards for Spain, must be voted on by their peers.

For 2024, we are excited to highlight the third edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Spain, honoring 795 lawyers in 37 practices across 17 metropolitan areas. Award recipients practice at 143 different firms across Spain.

“Law Firm of the Year” Awards in Spain

Best Lawyers recognizes law firms each year, as well. These firms, awarded the prestigious “Law Firm of the Year” award, are honored for their work nationwide based on several various factors, including individual lawyer feedback on ballots, the number of recognized honorees at a firm in a particular practice area, number of office locations, a historical look at the firm’s previous “Law Firm of the Year” awards, materials submitted by the firm and the firm’s overall practice.
