Morelli Law Firm is one of the most successful civil litigation firms in the country, consistently delivering for its clients. Anchored by power litigator Benedict Morelli, the firm gives victims of negligence, discrimination, and mass disasters a powerful voice to take on the world’s largest corporations, like Fox, Walmart, Pfizer, Amtrak, and Morgan Stanley.

“What truly sets us apart is our ability to win in the courtroom,” says founding partner Benedict Morelli. “Because of our success with juries, we’re always prepared to go to trial so that we can get clients what they deserve, no matter how big the adversary.”

Given the firm’s impressive results, it is often tapped to handle high-profile and celebrity cases. After almost losing his life in a major auto accident involving a Walmart truck, comedian Tracy Morgan called upon Mr. Morelli to handle his case. Mr. Morelli worked closely with Morgan throughout the process, eventually securing him an undisclosed confidential settlement with Walmart that was widely reported.

“Tracy is obviously a fighter—he’d been through a tremendous ordeal and was able to bounce back physically and emotionally,” Morelli says. “We were delighted to get him the justice he deserved so that he could return to bringing laughter and joy to his millions of fans.”

Morelli Law Firm also represented victims of the much-covered Philadelphia Amtrak train crash in 2015, in which more than 200 passengers were injured and eight were killed. The firm was instrumental in obtaining a $265 million settlement for the plaintiffs, reportedly the largest ever for a railroad crash. “We worked very hard to come up with a unique settlement framework that would provide the best possible outcome for all of the victims involved,” Morelli says. “They deserved swift resolution, and that’s what we provided.” The firm is now representing victims of both the September 2016 NJ Transit crash in Hoboken and the October 2016 Long Island Railroad crash.

Another case currently on the firm’s docket is representing professional tennis phenom Eugenie Bouchard in her lawsuit against the United States Tennis Association (USTA) for a head injury she suffered during the 2015 U.S. Open. “We told Genie that we would make sure the USTA takes responsibility, and that’s exactly what we intend to do,” says Morelli.

In addition, the firm is well-versed in mass tort litigation, currently representing nearly 1,000 women in a mass tort litigation against Johnson & Johnson regarding claims that the company’s talcum powder caused ovarian cancer.
Morelli sees the firm’s mission as not only obtaining justice for clients, but also preventing future abuses.

“We have recovered maximum compensation for clients who have endured every type of pain and suffering imaginable, holding responsible parties accountable throughout,” says Morelli. “But we’re also proud that because of our work, corrupt companies and bad actors must now think twice before doing wrong, and legitimate corporations will try harder to be careful and prevent serious injuries and death to the public.”

The Tragic Limitations of New York’s Outdated Wrongful Death Law

by David Scher

New York might be a progressive state in many respects, but its wrongful death law is itself a regressive tragedy—essentially the same statute first passed in the mid-1800s—that prolongs and deepens grieving families’ suffering. This must change.
