High-Value Results in 2022 and 2023
Co-managing partner Matthew Easton noted that 2022 and 2023 marked significant high points for the firm, which resolved several cases that stemmed from injuries occurring several years ago. This included securing the full policy limits—$26 million—for a day laborer who nearly lost his arm in an elevator accident due to improper training and unsafe construction site conditions.
“Our client will suffer from complex regional pain syndrome for the rest of his life because of a preventable and horrific injury,” Matt Easton said. “He was the primary breadwinner of a family striving for the American dream, which was shattered by this accident. But he and his family now have the resources for rehabilitation and specialized dependent care they need to continue seeking that dream as best they can.”
In another captivating case, Easton & Easton acquired $7 million in 2022 from several defendants for their client who suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) after she fell more than two stories in her school’s newly constructed auditorium. The case was extremely complex due to the client’s conduct in being intoxicated and accessing the roof without permission. Many notable peer law firms in Los Angeles passed on the case, believing it was not winnable for those reasons. But Easton & Easton tapped into the creative legal strategies on which they have built their reputation to develop an effective argument.
“After five years and more than 20 depositions, we exposed how the school and various construction defendants had violated numerous building codes, which include installing the utility room card reader backward,” Co-managing partner Brian Easton said. “If the defendants had remedied just one of the obvious violations beforehand, our client would never have been able to access the auditorium roof, and this entire tragedy would have been avoided.”
New and Upcoming Catastrophic Injury Claims
The ability to demonstrate where and how well-funded entities are accountable continues to set Easton & Easton apart from other firms who seek quick settlements. The firm continues this tradition of excellence in recent plaintiff claims, which include:
- A bicyclist who lost his leg after being hit by a semi-truck that claims he was not properly riding in the bike lane.
- A county construction driver whose defective dump truck rolled down an embankment, causing him to become a paraplegic.
- A wrongful death action against public municipalities for the death of a motorcyclist due to the dangerous positioning of a homeless encampment near the I-5 freewa
“Many of our cases involve shocking, catastrophic and fatal injuries,” partner Travis Easton noted. “We are aggressively litigating against the negligent and reckless parties and intend to hold them responsible and are preparing for the long haul, just as we did with our big wins from recent years.”
Given the remarkable results they have achieved for their clients, it is no surprise that Easton & Easton has received a Tier 1 ranking in Orange County for Personal Injury Litigation—Plaintiffs from Best Law Firms® each of the past five years, most recently for 2024.
