The legacy of the industrial era of the 19th and 20th centuries, in this case the proliferation of contaminated land, is increasingly hindering the development of our society. As such, the growing awareness of the risks to human health and the impacts on the natural environment related to the contamination of land leads to a desire to rehabilitate the land that very often comes up against historical, economic, legal and factual considerations that cannot be easily dismissed.
