Nathans & Ripke was founded by Larry Allen Nathans, who has been recognized by Best Lawyers® as Baltimore's Lawyer of the Year for White Collar Criminal Defense (2025 and 2021) and Criminal Defense-General (2015).

Our law firm is a highly rated, nationally recognized firm of trial and appellate lawyers devoted to criminal defense and complex civil litigation. Nathans & Ripke provides individuals and corporations with experienced, effective representation in all phases of criminal and civil matters, including: white collar; public corruption; grand jury; federal sentencing; federal and state felony and misdemeanor; appellate and post conviction; attorney grievance; federal forfeiture; civil litigation (including whistle blowers in qui tam prosecutions); and administrative and academic proceedings.

The diversity of our clientele reflects the breadth of our attorneys' experience. With over 100 years of combined litigation expertise, our attorneys represent corporations, senior executives, politicians, attorneys, physicians, judges, students, and other professionals and individuals in criminal proceedings and related civil, personal and professional matters. We provide comprehensive litigation support to our clients, extending beyond the primary investigation or court proceedings, to address collateral professional or academic sanctions, parallel civil proceedings, and adverse media attention. Through skilled management in our early representation, we often persuade prosecutors to abandon criminal investigations or exonerate our clients before charges are ever filed.

Nathans & Ripke lawyers maintain the highest standards of professional and academic excellence. A mark of the firm's distinction is that Mr. Nathans was requested to serve as a panel moderator at the American Bar Association (ABA) White Collar annual seminar and as the only federal criminal defense attorney presenter at a training seminar for newly appointed Federal District Court Judges. He has also been recruited by several federal and state judges to represent their relatives. Nathans & Ripke attorneys are regularly invited to teach other lawyers, either as law school adjunct faculty, or at seminars and classes throughout the country. Recognized throughout the legal community as highly skilled and effective advocates, we are frequently the attorneys of choice when our peers are faced with professional grievance proceedings.
