In 1968, Gerald E. Thurswell founded The Thurswell Law Firm to secure justice for seriously injured people and their families.

A law school honors graduate at age 23, Mr. Thurswell has achieved an “AV” Rating for the past 20 years, the highest possible rating for superior legal ability according to Martindale-Hubbell®. At the Thurswell Law Firm, he leads a team of 14 experienced attorneys and has obtained numerous multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements for injured people throughout Michigan. The Thurswell Law Firm has received National Tier-1 Rankings by U.S.News – Best Lawyers® “Best Law Firms” for excellence in medical malpractice law and Detroit Tier-1 Rankings for excellence in medical malpractice and personal injury litigation. He was the President of The Association of Trial Lawyers of America–Metropolitan Detroit; and is a member of the American Association for Justice–Birth Trauma Litigation Group, the Motor Vehicle Trial Lawyers Association, The American Society of Forensic Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, an organization limited to the most prestigious groups of trial lawyers that have achieved several multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements. He is a member of the Michigan Association for Justice Executive Board, Justice PAC, and is on the Judicial Qualifications Committee for The Michigan Association for Justice. He has served the State Bar of Michigan as an Investigator and an Arbitrator for the Attorney Grievance Board. In addition, he has served as a Hearing Panel Chairman for the State Bar Discipline Board. Mr. Thurswell is admitted to the State Bar of Michigan, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. In addition, he is also licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia, Illinois, New York, and Colorado.
