About our firm

Schultz & Trombly, PLLC, is a small, established law firm with the experience and expertise to assist you in handling a wide range of cases involving catastrophic injury. We have decades of experience representing the seriously injured and their families, and our firm has particular expertise in serious and complex medical negligence, personal injury, and wrongful death cases. We have successfully represented a broad range of clients, from infants to the elderly, who have suffered serious injuries as the result of negligence or the intentional misconduct of another individual or entity.

Our firm is a Washington, D.C. and Maryland based firm. However, with the assistance of local counsel, we have and will pursue serious personal injury and medical malpractice claims for our clients in Virginia and in other jurisdictions.

We deliver personal attention to our clients by listening, remaining accessible, and promptly responding to their needs. Our firm is selective about the cases we accept, and we efficiently manage our cases to ensure the consistent delivery of exceptional service and personal commitment to each client and each case.

Our Approach

We believe that the approach we take in our cases sets us apart from many of the other law firms who practice in our field. First, we assume that every case we take will need to go to trial. We work on that assumption from the beginning and continue to do so until the case is concluded. Of course, many of our cases do settle without the need for a trial, as we are strong believers in the value of mediation, arbitration and other alternative means of resolution of cases. A reasonable settlement, when it can be achieved, eliminates the uncertainty of the outcome of a trial. It also avoids our clients being subjected to the stress and emotionally draining experience of a trial. But we believe that our success in reaching reasonable settlements for our clients is because we are always fully prepared for trial, and our adversaries know it.

Second, we do not delegate responsibility for a case to a lesser-experienced attorney while the case is progressing through the court system and then become re-involved when the case is called for trial. We are a small firm-there are only two principal attorneys. Whichever one of us is responsible for your case will be involved in all aspects of your case from the initial investigation, through discovery, all court proceedings, mediation and, if a trial is necessary, through the trial. The result is that in our firm the attorney responsible for your case, working closely with our paralegal staff, will know your case inside and out from beginning to end.

Our Experience

Prospective clients often ask us if we have experience in their type of case. On the one hand, every case is unique. On the other hand, while no two cases are identical, our experience in other cases that have involved the same or similar type of negligence, serious injury, legal or factual issues, and in some instances the same negligent defendant or wrongdoer can be beneficial.

Accordingly, the following is a list of some of the types of cases in which we have actual experience. It is not an exhaustive list and we are happy to discuss with you our past experience that could be relevant to your particular case.
