Amanda Gilbert represents individuals in all aspects of family law, including divorce, custody, adoption and assisted reproductive technology. Drawing on her own personal experiences, she strives to help clients regain control of often-overwhelming situations, and crafts creative solutions to help them achieve their goals. Her clients often express their appreciation for Amanda’s calm demeanor and patience as she guides their matters to resolution. One client recently expressed gratitude that “Amanda was there for them every step of the way.”

A trained mediator and Collaborative practitioner, Amanda is currently President-Elect of the DC Academy of Collaborative Professionals, and a member of other collaborative dispute resolution organizations. She believes that many family matters can (and should) be handled outside the courtroom, through mediation, the Collaborative Process or negotiated settlements. There are times, however, when litigation is unavoidable, and she is always poised and ready to assist her clients through these legally and emotionally challenging times.

Having earned the high regard of other family law practitioners, one colleague said “Amanda is a highly respected attorney in the community. Her collaborative approach to family law helps to guide her clients through their family law issues with minimal stress. I would strongly recommend her to potential clients.”

Amanda is deeply committed to helping those in need and being an active participant in both her personal and professional communities. She has handled pro bono and low bono cases through the Collaborative Project of Maryland and the DC Collaborative Project. For many years, Amanda served on the Fred Taylor Scholarship Committee at For Love of Children.

After receiving her B.A. in psychology, with honors, from Washington University in St. Louis, Amanda earned her J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School. She is licensed to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
