Andrew is a lawyer with over 25 years of experience in commercial law, property law and estate planning. Areas of specialisation include business sales and purchases, commercial leasing, finance, partnership agreements, joint ventures, shareholders agreements, trust deeds, property development and complex wills.

Andrew has considerable experience in all facets of property law, from entering into and enforcement of securities, to real estate subdivisions and general conveyancing. Andrew also has specific expertise and interest in trusts and wills, including drafting provisions featuring testamentary trusts and protective trusts for disabled beneficiaries.
Who he works with
Andrew acts for a wide range of clients including SME’s, property developers, non-bank lenders, not for profit organisations and private clients.

Life before Sparkes
Prior to joining the firm Andrew was a partner at Laycock Burke Castaldi Lawyers (that merged with Sparke Helmore in July 2020). Andrew was previously a partner at Baker Love Lawyers (having joined that firm in 2003) and prior to that was a solicitor on the Central Coast and in London.
Life outside of Sparkes
Andrew is the Director of Lifestyle for one of Australia’s largest not-for-profit organisations that provides out of home care for children and disability support services. Andrew is also a clinical lecturer at the University of Newcastle law school. Andrew is the father of twin boys and they are regularly seen mountain biking and surfing around Newcastle.
