Brian Leedy’s practice is devoted to defending individuals in both state and federal courts at all stages of the trial process, including pre-indictment grand jury targets, where he represents clients in a full range of criminal cases including mail and wire fraud, drug trafficking, firearm offenses, terrorism, environmental crimes, government procurement fraud, immigration, alien smuggling, bank robbery, sex offenses, tax offenses, offenses on Indian land.
Brian’s practice is client-focused, and he is consistently successful in securing acquittals, case dismissals, and mitigated sentences on behalf of his clients. Brian has been qualified as a defense expert in the area of Federal Fraud sentencing practice in the United States District Court for the District of Colorado.
Brian first became known for his trial skills while serving at the Denver trial office of the state public defender for five years, and then as a federal public defender in District of Colorado for eight years where he was appointed as the office’s training director. Brian gained his initial trial experience while in law school in the Litigation Department of the U.S. Department of Justice – Environment and Natural Resources Division.
Given his broad expertise in both state and federal criminal practice, Brian is a frequent lecturer and has taught courses with the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, the University of Colorado Law School, the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, the Colorado Criminal Defense bar, the 10th Circuit Criminal Justice Act Panel, and Office of U.S. Courts on topics ranging from federal practice standards to developing winning trial strategies.
