Helping people is Bryan‘s primary focus. He works closely with his clients to find practical and cost-effective solutions in complex commercial litigation and business immigration matters.

Bryan is an experienced courtroom advocate with a broad litigation practice. He handles contractual disputes, builders’ liens, debt collection, product liability, shareholders’ disputes, and disciplinary proceedings. He has a particular interest in construction disputes involving floods, fire, and other complex delay claims. He has appeared as lead counsel before all levels of court in Alberta, the Federal Court of Canada, and the Federal Court of Appeal, and in leave applications to the Supreme Court of Canada. He also has extensive experience as counsel in both domestic and international arbitrations.

Bryan is regularly called upon to provide strategic advice prior to litigation and to assist clients with developing bespoke contracts and strategies to avoid litigation.

In his immigration practice, Bryan helps employers and individuals with a variety of business immigration matters. He has dealt with virtually every type of application and is frequently asked to prepare and submit large volumes of applications to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada as well as to Service Canada. He advises employers in immigration audits and with matters related to the mobility of their workforce. With the guidance of the Labour and Employment Group at McLennan Ross, Bryan also assists employers with labour strategies.

With special skills in immigration appeals, a large part of Bryan’s immigration practice involves appellate advocacy. He has appeared as lead counsel before the Immigration Board, Immigration Appeal Division and the Federal Court of Canada on immigration appeals and judicial review applications.

At the forefront of technology, Bryan utilizes legal project management software and the latest in legal technology to run cases efficiently. He is also skilled at delegating resources and always uses the appropriate approach for small versus large problems. He helps clients to determine where to devote resources to ensure the best result.

Bryan likes finding interesting and creative solutions that solve problems. He feels his unique practice gives him a balance between advocating for his clients in sometimes adversarial situations in litigation and his immigration practice, where he helps people reunite families and grow their businesses. He seeks to understand the details of a business and proactively address issues before they become problems.
