Cassandra defends healthcare professionals, physicians, nurses, hospitals, practice groups, skilled nursing facilities, and institutions in all aspects of litigation involving claims of medical malpractice and wrongful death, from pre-suit investigations through verdicts at trial. She has successfully defended clients in courtrooms throughout Rhode Island and has obtained favorable jury verdicts.Cassandra routinely represents professionals as non-party witnesses and experts, as well as before licensing and administrative boards. She advises health care professionals and risk management on a variety of areas, including peer review, credentialing, and general practice. Frequently, she is invited to lecture at seminars and on panels on various litigation topics.Her practice also includes counseling clients on day-to-day aspects of the employment relationship. She has practiced before administrative agencies, including the Rhode Island Commission for Human Rights and Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, in claims involving employment disputes, such as discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination.Her education law practice includes advocating for clients in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, including determining eligibility for services and evaluations, Section 504 meetings, IEP meetings, mediations, settlement negotiations, and administrative proceedings.Previously, Cassandra served as a Rhode Island Supreme Court Law Clerk for the Honorable Francis X. Flaherty, as well as the Rhode Island Supreme Court Law Clerk Department. She is actively involved in serving the community, including coordinating the firm’s pro bono work through the Roger Williams University School of Law’s Pro Bono Collaborative.She volunteers and holds leadership positions on Boards of multiple organizations, including Providence Community Health Centers, Rhode Island Women’s Bar Association, Roger Williams University School of Law, the Rhode Island Bar Association, and the Rhode Island Supreme Court Committee on Character and Fitness (by appointment of Chief Justice Paul A.
