With an analytical approach and a knack for fostering collaboration, Courtney Bartkus focuses on solving clients’ problems in her litigation practice. Her work has largely focused on corporate and commercial disputes, securities and financial services regulation, Section 1983 civil rights litigation and employment discrimination issues.
Courtney has experience researching and drafting memoranda on complex commercial issues involving the Exchange Act, the Dodd-Frank Act, the False Claims Act, employment discrimination, municipal liability and corporate regulation as well as investigating potential consumer protection violations. She has drafted complaints, motions, appellate briefs, mediation statements, protective orders and other pleadings, and prepared initial and expert disclosures, responses to written discovery and civil investigative demands.
Prior to Brownstein, Courtney was an associate at a national firm, where she managed paralegals and staff working on cases along with her legal work. She clerked during law school for the Colorado Attorney General’s Office, where she aided in consumer protection investigations and analyzed antitrust concerns for a proposed financial merger. Courtney also interned with the Arapahoe County and Jefferson County district attorney’s offices. Before entering the legal field, Courtney worked in the financial services industry.
