EXPERIENCE
Russ received the Client Choice Award 2015 for Intellectual Property – Trademarks for the state of Washington. Established in 2005, Client Choice recognizes those law firms and partners around the world that stand apart for the excellent client care they provide and the quality of their service. The criteria for this recognition focuses on an ability to add real value to clients’ business above and beyond the other players in the market. Uniquely, law firms and partners can be nominated only by corporate counsel. In his litigation practice, Russ has argued before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, which upheld dismissal of a trademark case in his client’s favor. He has experience in over 100 Trademark Trial and Appeal Board proceedings. His patent prosecution focuses on the electrical and electro-mechanical arts. He has also lectured in various forums on intellectual property issues and is a Guest Lecturer on IP Law and Litigation at the University of Washington Paralegal Program. Before attending law school, Russ worked as a court reporter in federal and state court and as a technician with National Semiconductor maintaining microchip manufacturing equipment.
