Emily Ellis is an associate in Dentons Sirote's Tax practice in Birmingham, Alabama, where she is a member of the Tax Litigation and Dispute Resolution team focusing on tax controversy and litigation. Emily joined the firm after earning her JD from The University of Alabama School of Law, where she was a junior editor of the Alabama Law Review; a member of the Moot Court Board; the president of the Alabama Alumni Society's Student Division; the treasurer of the Business Law Society; a member and volunteer with Raise the Bar; and a member of both the Dorbin Association and the Public Interest Student Board. Prior to law school, Emily graduated summa cum laude from The University of Alabama with a BA in accounting. During her undergraduate years, Emily was a member of Beta Alpha Psi, Delta Gamma, Phi Eta Sigma, the Golden Key National Honor Society, the Honors College, and the Student Recruitment Team. She also served as the president of the Elliott Society and volunteered with numerous organizations, including Save First Tax Preparation and the UA LIFT Program. Emily comes to Dentons Sirote with a wide array of experiences. She has been a law clerk for Dentons Sirote and interned for the Georgia Innocence Project, for The Hon. Judge Michael Frank of the Northern District of Florida, for PwC, for the Alabama Secretary of State, and for US Senator Jeff Sessions, among others. Emily also taught for two years in Alabama public schools with Teach for America and interned at Regions Bank within the Financial Development Program.
