Eryck is Senior Partner at Uhthoff, Gomez Vega & Uhthoff, S.C. with more than 36 years’ experience in intellectual property portfolio management for Mexican and international companies. He is proficient across all areas of intellectual property law but works most closely with the firm’s Trademark Group.
Regarded as one of Mexico’s top IP lawyers, he currently co-chairs the firm’s Entertainment Law and Copyright Law groups.
Eryck played a crucial role in the open parliament sessions set up to discuss and approve the new Federal Law for the Protection of Industrial Property at the Camara de Senadores (Senators Chamber) during 2019 and 2020. Also, he engaged in the round tables organized by the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property to study the initiative to create a new Industrial Property law.
Moreover, he was invited to participate in the open parliament sessions to discuss and approve reforms to the Mexican Copyright legislation in the Camara de Diputados (House of Representatives) in 2019.

Eryck Castillo is former President of the Mexican Group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), and enjoys assisting this organization having been designated as Chair of the Study Question “Registrability of Trade Marks against Public Order or Morality” during the AIPPI Virtual Congress 2021 and Plenary Chair for the Study Question 281 “Trademarks and the Internet and Social Media” during the 2022 Annual Congress in San Francisco, California, U.S.A..
He is constantly recommended by leading industry publications and directories as a leader in IP, not only for the work he conducts on behalf of his clients but also for the complimentary work he has been doing for various local and international organizations. As mentioned above, he is past president of the Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AMPPI) for the period 2019-2020.
On the International arena he has been distinguished by the International Trademark Association (INTA) as Chair of the Unreal Campaign Committee for 2022-2023, focusing on educating youngsters on the risks associated with the purchase of counterfeit products around the world. He has also been designated Delegate for Mexico on the Interamerican Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI) for 2022-2024 and President of the Franchises Committee in this association.. Also, he has active participation in the International Trade Committee of the European Communities Trademark Association (ECTA) and a recent appointment as a representative for Mexico in one of AIPPI’s statutory committees, i.e. the Communications Committee.
