François-Nicolas is a litigator, negotiator, author and renowned speaker. He is recognized for his people skills as well as his communication skills, notably when speaking on topics relating to labour relations. He is the firm’s resident artist and his marked interest in contemporary art has allowed the firm to considerably develop its art collection.
He joined Monette Barakett as a student in 1998. He has been a partner since 2008 and oversees talent recruitment and leads the firm’s internship program.Since the start of his career, François-Nicolas has devoted himself to his passion for labour law. His practice focuses primarily on collective labour relations in the public sector. Today, his practice is almost exclusively focused on representing employers on matters of labour law supported by his substantial experience in administrative law.
Fluently bilingual, he litigates on behalf of employers particularly when it comes to grievance arbitration but also before Québec’s administrative labour tribunal and the province’s superior courts. He has also pleaded important cases before the Québec Court of Appeals. For several years now, he has pursued an interest in work reorganization within the health and social services sector (Bill 30) as well as in human rights in the context of labour relations.
He has negotiated numerous collective agreements in both the public and private sectors.
