One of the founding partners of the law firm, Fred serves as senior trial partner in all areas of litigation. Fred has been representing clients in transactions and matters of significant exposure for over thirty years. He takes a down to earth, common sense approach to resolving the most complicated litigation in a cost effective manner. He has also acted as counsel to one of the largest electrical contractors in New York in all matters of litigation, including labor relations and contract disputes. Further, Fred has been chosen as regional counsel for a major national insurer; overseeing other counsel on matters involving sexual abuse and misconduct. Fred is also a member of the Lewis Johs Catastrophic Loss Response Team.
Fred serves as Vice-Chairman on the Grievance Committee for the Tenth Judicial District. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of The John T. Mather Memorial Hospital, the Board of Governors of Touro Law School and the Board of Boys Hope Girls Hope. He recently completed a two year term as President of Advancement for Commerce Industry & Technology, Inc. and subsequently as Chairman of the Board. Additionally, Fred has been honored as one of the ten best trial lawyers on Long Island and was named to "Best Lawyers" for the ninth consecutive year and to "Super Lawyers" for the eighth consecutive year. He is rated "AV" by Martindale Hubbell and Long Island Pulse Magazine rated Fred a Top Legal Eagle in Suffolk and Nassau Counties for litigation.
Fred is a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, Defense Research Institute, American Bar Association, Nassau-Suffolk Trial Lawyers Association, New York State Bar Association, and the Suffolk County Bar Association. He has lectured on medical malpractice litigation and trial techniques for both the Suffolk County and New York State Bar Associations. He has also lectured to various clients and insurance carriers on trial tactics and damages issues.
In March 2012, Fred participated in a mock trial of a New York state Labor Law case in London at Xchanging before a group of 160 claims handlers, underwriters and brokers. In December 2012, he participated in a symposium on litigation presented at the Lloyd's Library.
Fred Johs is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and in the United States District Court for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. He attended St. John's University School of Law and the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at Exeter, England. He earned his B.B.A. in Accounting from Hofstra University.
