With extensive experience working with and in the high tech sector, Geoffrey Cheney devotes his practice to advising cutting edge companies on technology transactions, M&A, data security and data privacy issues and technology licensing. He has broad experience in technology transactions and M&A, including preparation of agreements involving technology companies. He negotiates commercial contracts, including software as a service agreements, license agreements and development, distribution, and reseller agreements.
Geoffrey’s experience includes serving as outside general counsel for technology companies focused on smartphone security solutions, social networking, user behavior analytics solutions businesses, and other areas.
Geoffrey also advises Akerman lawyers regarding ethical conflicts of interest issues.
Prior to joining rejoining Akerman, Geoffrey served as general counsel for a social networking and technology company with operations in the United States, the U.K., Ireland, and Germany, and was counsel for a computer software provider for the financial services industry.
