A partner at Chaitons LLP, George brings 25 years of experience in the areas of corporate restructurings, bankruptcy and insolvency, and commercial litigation. He also has extensive experience in litigation proceedings involving allegations of commercial fraud and other improprieties.

George represents and advises a broad range of lenders, bondholders, indenture trustees and other stakeholders in proceedings commenced under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act, Personal Property Security Act, Business Corporations Act and other commercial and insolvency-related statutes. He regularly acts as independent counsel to court-appointed receivers, trustees in bankruptcy and court-appointed inspectors.

He also regularly represents shareholders of private companies in commercial disputes, both in court proceedings and in alternative dispute processes. George is widely recognized within the business and legal communities for his expertise in insolvency-related litigation. He is currently recognized as a leading insolvency litigation lawyer in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and is recognized in Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Lawyers for his experience in handling insolvency-related litigation.

George is a past Chair of the Insolvency Section of the Ontario Bar Association and served as an Executive Member of the National Bankruptcy, Insolvency and Restructuring Section of the Canadian Bar Association. In 2017, George was invited to become a member of the Insolvency Institute of Canada, an organization comprised of senior and experienced practitioners in the insolvency field in Canada.
