Hipólito Zañartu Rosselot

Hipólito Zañartu has extensive experience advising clients in the natural resources and environmental sector, in terms of project management and constitution, as well as in the litigation of these matters. As a specialist in mining, water, energy and administrative issues, Mr. Zañartu has prepared numerous mining and water law legal reports, for both private and public institutions, among others.

Prior to joining SLBZ, he worked for almost twenty years as a lawyer, prosecutor and legal manager at Compañía Minera Cerro Negro S.A., Anaconda Chile, Antofagasta Minerals S.A., Ferrocarril de Antofagasta a Bolivia (FCAB) and Aguas de Antofagasta S.A.

Additionally, Mr. Zañartu was the director of the Mining and Water Institute of Universidad de Atacama, Secretary General, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Chancellor of Universidad Gabriela Mistral and is currently Dean of the Faculty of Law and Government of Universidad San Sebastián and a member of the Board of Directors of Universidad Gabriela Mistral.

As an academic, he is a pregraduate law professor at Universidad Católica de Chile, Universidad Gabriela Mistral and at Universidad San Sebastián, a tenured professor in civil, mining and water law. Furthermore, he teaches postgraduate courses (master program) at Universidad Finis Terrae and Universidad de Atacama.

Arbitrator of the National Arbitration Center.

Member of the Chilean Bar Association.

Mr. Zañartu is director of real estate and construction companies.
