Mr. Carpenter's primary practice areas include tax, estate planning and probate law, IRS tax controversy, asset protection planning, business mergers and acquisitions, and commercial real estate law. He is a NC Board Certified Specialist in Estate Planning and Probate Law. Mr. Carpenter specializes in estate planning, estate administration, representing clients before the IRS, asset protection planning, and sophisticated real-estate tax-deferral strategies, including capital gain maximization planning, Section 1031 like-kind exchanges and reverse exchange techniques. He has assisted numerous clients with IRS tax controversies, asset protection planning, and in sophisticated tax, estate planning and probate matters, business mergers and acquisitions, and commercial real estate transactions. Mr. Carpenter has been successful in applying a multi-disciplinary approach in advising his clients how to structure their transactions to minimize the tax effect and to preserve assets for their families.
Mr. Carpenter has published articles and served as a speaker in various professional capacities, including Section 1031 like-kind exchanges, reverse exchanges and estate planning topics.
