The Honorable Joseph A. (“Drew”) Dickson, a former Federal Magistrate Judge for the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, focuses his practice on bringing closure to disputes in a timely, efficient and discrete manner through mediation and arbitration.

During his tenure as a Federal Magistrate Judge, Drew managed an expansive scope of Federal court litigation in areas including intellectual property, antitrust, creditors’ rights, and class action. Prior to joining the bench, he spent 30 years in private practice where he focused on complex litigation. He served as lead trial counsel in numerous cases and administrative proceedings in the state and federal courts of New Jersey and other jurisdictions.

Judge Dickson draws upon this wealth of experience when collaborating with attorneys across the firm’s family law, bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, trusts and estates, intellectual property, antitrust, class action and employment areas in alternative dispute resolutions. Further, he maintains a robust Federal litigation practice and is a trusted advisor to clients faced with complex discovery issues as a Court-appointed discovery master. As such, he frequently deals with complex discovery issues, including the application of technology-assisted review (TAR) and the continuing questions of proportionality and relevance.

Judge Dickson serves as the Chair of the CSG Law Pro Bono Committee, where he is focused on expanding opportunities and increasing engagement throughout the firm on pro bono matters. He also provides valuable mentorship and guidance to attorneys participating in projects, allowing for the firm’s pro bono work to provide impactful opportunities for professional development. He has played a key role in formalizing the firm’s relationship with outside pro bono partners and has encouraged the identification of new organizations to expand the scope of the initiative.

Judge Dickson is a graduate of New York University and Seton Hall University School of Law, where he was a published member and Managing Editor of the Seton Hall Law Review. He has lectured on a variety of topics at Continuing Legal Education Seminars and has been a guest lecturer at Seton Hall University School of Law.
