Ken Webb is a partner in the Charleston office of Bowles Rice and a Leader of the Business Litigation Practice Group. His primary practice areas include business litigation, shareholders’ rights litigation, construction disputes, insurance coverage disputes and professional liability defense. He has represented all types of business entities in a variety of legal disputes including the disassociation of lawyers, doctors and dentists, banking litigation, restrictive covenant and non-compete litigation and general breach of contract actions. Mr. Webb has also represented majority and minority shareholders in valuation/dissenters’ rights cases. He has represented owners, contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, geotechnical engineers and sureties in construction disputes both at arbitration and in state and federal court. He also represents lawyers, bankers, architects and engineers in defense of professional liability actions.
From 1995 to 1997, Mr. Webb provided counsel and litigation support for the Consolidated Public Retirement Board of the State of West Virginia. In that role, he defended the retirement board in benefit determinations and appeals in administrative proceedings, circuit courts and in the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia. His litigation experience includes dozens of civil jury and bench trials. He has also participated in numerous arbitration proceedings and has appeared many times before the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia and the Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Before becoming a member of the litigation practice group, Mr. Webb practiced with the banking and commercial practice group. As part of the banking and commercial practice group, he gained experience in bank mergers and acquisitions, federal and state bank legislation, banks and their customers, and the law of bank deposits, negotiable instruments and wire transfers.
Mr. Webb has practiced extensively before state and federal administrative bodies in West Virginia and Washington, D.C., and is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in West Virginia. In 1987, he received his bachelor of science degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from West Virginia University and his law degree in 1990 from The Ohio State University College of Law, where he served as an articles editor for the Ohio State Law Journal and was a member of the International Moot Court Team.
He is a member of the American Bar Association, West Virginia State Bar and the Kanawha County Bar Association.
