Litigation - Construction
Kurt Mitchell focuses his practice primarily on civil litigation, including construction defects, construction law, business and commercial law, insurance and real estate.
He got his start at a small firm in central Washington, handling everything from divorces to felony criminal cases. After practicing law in Oregon, Washington and Montana, Kurt eventually found his way to a products liability and insurance practice group at a large Midwestern law firm.
Today the lion’s share of Kurt’s work relates to construction defects litigation on behalf of individual homeowners, associations, and other property owners and management entities. In addition, he has extensive experience in general business and real estate litigation.
“My clients and cases are diverse, but certain things are true across the board,” says Kurt. “All cases, for example, require thorough preparation. It’s critically important to understand the details of every dispute, from the legal and engineering issues to the personalities of all the parties.
“It’s also essential never to lose sight of the stakes for one’s client. Since a home or property is often one’s biggest asset, every case demands aggressive advocacy.
