Lauren practices in the areas of Pensions and Benefits, Education Law and Labour and Professional Regulation.
In her Pensions practice, Lauren provides advice and representation to union, individual and Board of Trustees clients with respect to jointly sponsored, multi-employer and single-employer pension plans. She provides advice on matters such as plan amendments, governance and wind up, legislative compliance, trustee liability and individual benefit entitlements, and representation in related litigation.
In her Benefits practice, Lauren effectively and efficiently acts for unions and individual clients in a range of matters, including providing advice concerning claims for disability benefits, representation in long-term disability insurance benefits litigation and appeals, and advice and representation in Canada Pension Plan Disability Benefits appeals.
Lauren represents unions and their members in a variety of other areas, including collective agreement, professional regulation and criminal matters. She represents unions and individual clients at the Ontario College of Teachers, the College of Early Childhood Educators, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and at grievance arbitrations, as well as before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Ontario Court of Appeal and Federal Court of Appeal.
Lauren joined Cavalluzzo as an associate in 2013 after summering and articling with the firm. Lauren received her J.D. from the University of Ottawa.
