Luís Castilho has been a lawyer since 2009, having worked in Tier 1 firms for almost 10 years.
In late 2021 he co-founded the law firm BELIM CASTILHO with Catarina Belim. At the firm, Luís specializes in direct tax matters (nationally and internationally), both from a personal and corporate side perspectives, helping clients (RNHs and private clients) navigating the Portuguese tax framework and reach their investment goals.
Luís first started out as a Tax Lawyer in 2009,working as an Associate Lawyer in PLMJ for around 6 years and then as a Senior Consultant and later Manager at Deloitte Portugal (Tax - Financial Services Industry) for close to 4 years.
Between 2019 and 2021, Luís was an Assistant to the Secretary of State for Tax Affairs in the XXI and XXII Constitutional Governments of Portugal.
During this period Luís Castilho was responsible for coordinating working groups that were behind some major tax reforms, namely the latest revision of the nonhabitual residents regime, the new cash-pooling stamp duty exemption, the new aviation tax, the new takeaway single use packaging tax, the new requirements fort he attribution of licenses in Madeira’s Free Trade Zone, the new post-WLTP automobile taxation reform, among others.
