In Mae's Own Words:
"Because I grew up, nurtured a law practice and raised a family in small town, rural Alberta (Drayton Valley), community connections with the people and businesses within it has been an interest and a focus for me. In a smaller centre, you get to know most everyone, their challenges and triumphs, and I uniquely can provide practical and relevant advice with my roots in mind. The relationships with people and professionals is what I enjoy. My general law practice start gave me a broad base to expand to all aspects of personal and business legal services, all the while understanding the underlying client needs and goals."
Mae received the prestigious King's Counsel (KC) appointment in 2024, recognizing her outstanding contributions to the legal profession and community. Throughout her career, Mae has been an active volunteer for the Legal Education Society of Alberta, conducting lectures and acting as panel chair on their behalf, and was a part of the Real Estate Practice Advisory Committee and Conduct Panel for the Law Society of Alberta.
Mae’s dedication to her family and community has always translated into community volunteering, as a past chair and volunteer in the local chapter of Ducks Unlimited, past president of the Community Scholarship Trust Society, a member of Pembina Crisis Connection Society, a volunteer “celebrity” dancer and MC for the Humans Helping Humans Housing Foundation fundraiser, Shakin' in Drayton. Mae has volunteered for the organizing committee of the DV100 Race or Ride for the Drayton Valley Community Foundation, and was a founding member and director of the Frank Maddock High School Blue and Gold Society.
Growing up, and raising her daughter with her husband Glen in a small town formed strong connections with rural Alberta. In her free time, you might catch Mae fishing out at Buck Lake, Alberta, where her family enjoys some quiet cottage-time and daily walks with the family dog.
