Margaret L. Waddell is a founding partner of Waddell Phillips PC. She is a leader of the class action bar, and also practices commercial litigation and provides mediation services. Margaret has acted as counsel in a number of well known class actions such as Cannon v. Funds for Canada Foundation, Currie v. McDonald’s Corporation et al., and Markson v. MBNA Canada. She acted for the intervenor FAIR in the Green v. CIBC et al. appeals to the Ontario Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. On the plaintiff side, Margaret acts as class counsel predominately in consumer and securities class actions. On the defence side, Margaret has acted for corporations as well as directors and officers in both securities and competition class actions. Margaret is a member of the CBA National Class Action Task Force, and was a member of the Law Commission of Ontario’s Advisory Committee on Class Action Reform. Margaret is a regular speaker at a wide variety of CLE programs, both with respect to advocacy practice, and substantive legal education topics, and she is a frequent writer and commentator on topics in class actions and advocacy.
