When businesses have day-to-day legal compliance questions about their employees, need help defending an employment lawsuit, or require support dealing with union matters, Mario Bordogna is the right person to call whether you need help well in advance or require assistance at the drop of a hat. For 25 years, he has keenly represented and partnered with employers in a wide range of industries, such as healthcare, mining, energy, manufacturing, hospitality, education, professional services, and many others, understanding their business and blending both technical acumen and practical application to help them find the right solutions to their employment problems.
Mario takes pride in helping employers tackle compliance challenges with hiring, firing, accommodations, leave issues, severance, employment handbooks, and policy development. In his litigation practice, he has significant experience in state and federal court and arbitration defending individual and class claims as well as administrative charges relating to discrimination, wrongful discharge, retaliation, sexual harassment, FMLA and the ADA, wage and hour, as well as trade secret and non-competition/non-solicitation disputes, among many other issues. His experience in traditional labor law and labor-management relations includes first chairing collective bargaining, leading arbitrations and the defense of grievances, working on union avoidance, and managing unfair labor practice and related NLRB matters.
Just some of Mario’s past representative experience includes:
- Serving as the lead employment litigator for an international fortune 500 company
- Defending multi-million dollar sexual harassment suits
- Litigating matters involving wrongful discharge in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit
- Collectively bargaining contracts opposite mainstay unions like the USW and SEIU.
In addition to the employment and business services he provides, employers and clients benefit from a wide array of other critical skills Mario can provide, including a wealth of experience in conducting internal investigations as well as providing employment training programs, to name just a few examples. Mario is regularly sought after by corporate, in-house, insurance and other clients to lead these deliverables and is often a premier presenter requested to speak on a wide range of topics related to employment and HR for local, regional, and national audiences. Finally, Mario is a certified mediator, having completed both basic and advanced mediation training, and can capably lead your organization through mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution in employment matters.
