Matthias Sportini

Matthias Sportini is an attorney whose practice encompasses litigation and transactional matters. His litigation services focus on commercial litigation including premises liability, motor vehicle liability, and construction defect cases. Matt’s transactional practice includes real estate, zoning and land use matters, and corporate and business transactions.

Matt’s clients vary depending on the type of matters. For litigation-related cases, he primarily represents insurance companies, local and regional businesses in Fairfield County, and individuals, who rely on him to advocate on their behalf on matters of varying sizes and complexity in state and federal courts throughout Connecticut. His transactional clients are local and regional businesses and individuals throughout Fairfield County.

Matt manages cases from inception through resolution, handling investigations, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, discovery, motions, and more. He draws on his previous experience as a law clerk for civil judges of the Bridgeport Superior Court and the Connecticut Judicial Branch, where he witnessed legal strategies developed by hundreds of attorneys and the judges’ responses to the arguments presented. These experiences, and his former position with an insurance defense law firm, inform his practice today.

Matt’s real estate and land-use practice encompasses representing individuals and businesses with their real estate transactions – leases, acquisitions and dispositions – for commercial and residential properties. He assists with land-use issues that require working with town officials and agencies, such as the Planning & Zoning Commission and the Conservation Department, presenting plans and advocating for clients for approvals needed to advance their projects. He also works with businesses throughout Fairfield County on business formation and contract negotiations.

Central to Matt’s practice is the service he provides his clients along with his ability to provide them peace of mind every step of the way. He is responsive and dedicated to solving his clients’ legal problems with his relentless pursuit of the optimal resolution that aligns with their goals. Committed to giving back, Matt provided pro bono tax services while in law school and has provided pro bono legal services to the underprivileged seeking to assert their constitutional rights.

Matt is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association and while attending the University of Connecticut School of Law, served as the executive editor for the Connecticut Insurance Law Journal.
