Michael Binetti, Managing Partner of the firm, brings a proven litigation background plus extensive experience in arguing both trials and appeals. He has demonstrated his strategic legal capability and expertise in wide-ranging areas of litigation. Michael’s peers and clients have commented that Michael is an “excellent and creative lawyer,” “finds unique solutions to complex problems,” and that “Michael gets it and knows how to win.”
Michael represents clients targeted by the Competition Bureau and defends multinational corporations in Canadian class actions, often as part of larger multi-jurisdictional class actions. Michael also has a significant practice acting on insured and uninsured professional negligence matters involving lawyers and investment industry professionals, broker/dealer disputes, and regulatory investigations. He also advises and acts on fair business practices disputes, including advertising and marketing.
Michael was called to the Bar in Ontario in 2006 after articling with Affleck Greene McMurtry LLP. He joined the firm as Associate in 2006 and was named Partner in 2013. Michael is Director of the Toronto Lawyers' Association and Director of the Canadian-Italian Business and Professional Association. He was the past Chair of the Marketing Practices Committee of the Canadian Bar Association Competition Law Section. Michael graduated with a JD from the French common law section of the University of Ottawa, Canada and was a visiting student at the University of Houston Law Center.
