Michael T. Sansbury

Michael Sansbury has represented clients in trial and appellate courts across the United States. He has argued in courts ranging from Oregon Circuit Court to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. He has examined countless witnesses—from the president of a multi-national corporation in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to a newspaper publisher from Auburn, Alabama—and has tried issues in state and federal courts in Alabama.

Always thinking of the long-term impact, Sansbury specializes in developing big-picture solutions to large-scale problems. For instance, on behalf of a Fortune 100 company, he has helped to design and execute national litigation strategies to minimize the risk of particular theories of liability in class-action and wage-and-hour cases.

In Alabama, Sansbury has been involved in numerous high-profile cases, including litigation involving one of the largest corporate frauds in history, the Jefferson County sewer debt crisis, and electronic bingo. In 2012, he was part of a trial team that secured a $64 million jury verdict in a case involving anticompetitive conduct. The National Law Journal recognized that verdict as the 38th largest verdict in the United States for 2012.

Martindale-Hubbell has awarded Sansbury an AV rating, its highest rating. Best Lawyers Magazine listed Sansbury among the Best Lawyers in the field of Commercial Litigation in 2013. From 2010 through 2012, Alabama Super Lawyers magazine designated Sansbury as a "Rising Star,” a designation awarded to no more than 2.5% of the lawyers statewide.
