Paul practice focuses on corporate commercial litigation and arbitration, shareholder and fraud litigation, appellate litigation and judicial review with particular expertise in complex cases with a regulatory or cross-border dimension. He has litigated cases involving failed hedge funds, derivatives, fraud and Ponzi schemes, arbitration-related court proceedings, shareholder disputes, construction and infrastructure, defamation and employment law.

A highly experienced and versatile litigator, Paul excels at resolving complex issues through innovative litigation strategies. Clients trust him to provide insight and a creative and efficient approach to resolving their most challenging litigation matters. As a trial and appellate lawyer, Paul has extensive experience at all levels in the Ontario and Federal Courts and the Supreme Court of Canada, and before a variety of administrative and arbitral tribunals. He has also been appointed as an arbitrator, as a presiding officer under the Competition Act, and has acted for corporations, public entities, regulators, individuals, investment funds and receivers.

Paul served as a law clerk to Justice Gonthier of the Supreme Court of Canada, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He is an adjunct professor at University of Toronto's Faculty of Law, where he has taught international commercial arbitration for almost 20 years.

Paul is associate chair of the Discipline Appeals Board at the University of Toronto and has been ranked as a leading lawyer for arbitration and commercial litigation by leading industry peer reviewed ranking directories.
