Phil is a commercial litigator in state and federal courts. He takes pride in advising his clients on how to succeed at trial, on appeal, or how to avoid litigation altogether. Louis Armstrong, the greatest trumpet player of all time, said “never play anything the same way twice.” Phil has taken this advice to heart in his practice, advising unique clients facing distinct challenges with an individualized approach.

Phil represents a diverse set of clients across a broad range of industries, from banks with billions in assets to local real estate developers, contractors, and hospitality businesses. His experience includes complex class actions, trade secret and noncompete litigation, employment matters, banking litigation, property disputes, insurance matters, and construction litigation.

Working with the New Orleans Pro Bono Project and other community organizations, Phil provides legal services to low-income and elderly clients on a pro bono basis. He personally represents several pro bono clients in litigation and family law matters. Phil is also deeply involved in his church's community outreach activities and helped host thousands of volunteers from around the country who assisted in the rebuilding of homes in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

In law school, Phil distinguished himself as the Champion of the 2003-2004 Tulane Senior Trial Competition. Also while at Tulane, he was inducted into the Order of the Barristers, a national honor society recognizing those who excel in oral and written advocacy. Before law school, Phil studied music and music business at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Following law school, he worked for four years at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Phil still plays the trumpet and electric bass in his spare time, gravitating towards jazz music, which gives him a great appreciation and love of the New Orleans music scene. Phil’s wife and two sons are excellent musicians in their own right and make him practice more than he likes.
