Preston Neel is a shareholder of Dentons Sirote in Alabama. He is a member of the Corporate practice group and advises clients across multiple industries in the areas of business and tax law, including mergers and acquisitions, tax planning, and general corporate representation. He also has extensive experience providing financial services litigation and regulatory compliance assistance to banks and nonbanks offering mortgage, unsecured small dollar, and business purpose loan products and broker-dealers offering securities-based loan products.
Additionally, Preston skillfully guides and assists financial services clients in navigating various regulatory compliance obligations imposed on them by federal agencies, including the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve (FRB), and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), in addition to a host of state regulators and court systems. He has managed several federal and state examinations, including CFPB supervisory exams, and assisted with post-examination remediation efforts related to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA/AML), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), the Real Estate Settlement and Procedures Act (RESPA), bankruptcy discharge violations, and state consumer protection violations.
