Rae Vasquez is a partner in the Tax Practice Group and member of the tax credit finance team. While she has advised clients on a variety of commercial transactions, including real estate matters, corporate transactions, and construction lending, Rae’s practice currently focuses on the representation of lenders and investors in connection with affordable housing transactions involving construction and permanent financing, federal and state tax credits, tax-exempt bonds, tax-exempt loans, MTEBs, HOME loans, HUD, RAD and AHP grants or loans, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac. She regularly drafts and negotiates sophisticated agreements such as loan agreements and security agreements, as well as municipal bond transactions that include taxable and tax-exempt financings, and tax increment financings. Rae has also represented national retailers in significant real estate transactions, including acquisitions, development, planning, management, land use, and zoning. Additionally, she has experience representing 501(c)(3) organizations, including helping public colleges and universities address various infrastructure needs such as housing and parking. Having represented clients in the public and private sectors, Rae has deep insight into economic development public-private partnerships and has participated in a range of economic development projects, with a particular focus on securing economic development incentives from various state and municipal agencies. Among other matters, she served as underwriters' counsel for the $294 million bond sale for the restoration of the Louisiana Superdome, which was awarded Deal of the Year in the Southeast Region by The Bond Buyer. Rae has lectured on a variety of topics in academic and professional venues. She is also extensively involved in a number of community-based and legal-profession associations. In addition to these commitments, Rae actively participates in the firm's recruiting efforts and works closely with students at the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University. Rae was born and raised in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, and is fluent in Spanish.
