Bobby Rives is a native of Huntsville, Alabama, and was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1996. He received his B.S.B.A. from Auburn University in Montgomery in 1990 and his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Alabama in 1996. While at the University of Alabama, Bobby was a Student Editor for the American Journal of Tax Policy. In addition, Bobby was awarded the University of Alabama Federal Tax Clinic Scholarship.
Bobby concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate and finance, with a special emphasis on real estate development and commercial lending. He regularly advises clients in the acquisition, development and operation of a variety of commercial and residential real estate projects, such as shopping centers, multifamily properties, condominiums, mixed-use developments and traditional neighborhood developments. Further, Bobby represents landlords and tenants in all types of commercial leasing negotiations.
Bobby routinely represents lenders and borrowers in connection with a wide array of construction and permanent financing facilities, including participating loans, for commercial properties such as shopping centers, apartments, office buildings, hotels and planned unit developments. His practice also involves a special emphasis on representation of lenders making construction and permanent loans for multifamily housing for lower-income households, including loans that are made in connection with HOME loans, Section 42 tax credits and Affordable Housing Program grants. Further, Bobby represents lenders in commercial and residential foreclosures and workouts.
