Ryan practices complex commercial litigation. With nearly a decade of experience litigating a wide range of business disputes on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants, Ryan has recently litigated covenants not to compete and trade secrets, real estate transactions, contract disputes, business torts, and shareholder and corporate-governance issues.

Another part of Ryan’s practice focuses on antitrust, in which he represents large corporate clients in courts around the country. Ryan uses his graduate degree in economics to develop legal theories and work with expert witnesses. Ryan also advises clients on antitrust compliance.

Ryan’s clients span many industries, including manufacturing, real estate and development, insurance, healthcare, chemicals, education, distribution and sales, financial services, technology, private equity, finance, food and beverage, and startups. He has represented publicly traded companies, large private companies, small businesses, and individuals. In addition to trial and appeals in state and federal courts, Ryan advises clients on litigation avoidance and assessment.

In law school, Ryan graduated as valedictorian and was editor in chief of the law review. Before joining the firm, where he currently serves as its hiring partner, Ryan was a law clerk to the Hon. Gilbert S. Merritt of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Ryan is Board Chair of Intrepid College Preparatory Charter School, for which he has been a Founding Board Member for the past eight years. After college, Ryan taught sixth-grade math in New York City through Teach For America.
