Simon Fitzpatrick

Simon has practised as a barrister in Sydney since 2010.
Before that he worked in New York for eight years, taught at the University of Sydney Law School, and was an associate at the High Court of Australia.
Simon has appeared in representative proceedings (both for applicants and respondents), ICAC investigations (both for a person affected and as counsel assisting the Commission), and trials and appeals in the Federal Court and NSW Supreme Court.
Simon has been recognised by ‘Best Lawyers in Australia’ (9th ed, 2017; 10th ed, 2018; 11th ed, 2019) in the area of ‘Litigation’.
Simon’s practice focuses on commercial and corporate law, equity, public law, trade practices, defamation, and intellectual property.
Given his experience in America, Simon has a particular interest in proceedings with a US dimension (including the taking of depositions in Australia), and advising US clients on aspects of Australian law.
