Todd Franks is the founder of the law firm of Franks Cool Houser & McVey, P.C., located in Phoenix, Arizona. With more than 41 years experience practicing law, he concentrates on family law matters, domestic relations, domestic torts and family law appeals.
Mr. Franks offers unique legal services to families and individuals going through challenging and stressful times because of their legal matters. Providing sophisticated legal representation and personal attention to every case, he is a compassionate attorney who also is an ardent and aggressive advocate for his clients both inside and outside the courtroom.
With a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, Mr. Franks has a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He also pursued a Ph.D. program in regulatory economics, focusing on urban and housing economics and was a Samuel S. Fels fellow.
Mr. Franks has held notable positions in legal associations, including the Maricopa County Domestic Relations Study Committee, the American Bar Association’s Family Law Section, and the Maricopa County Volunteer Lawyers Program. He is past chair of the Arizona Supreme Court’s Creditors’ Rights Workgroup of Domestic Relations Committee, The Family Law Council of Community Property States, and Maricopa County Bar Association Family Law Section.Actively involved in giving back to his community, Mr. Franks has served at the Arizona Department of Health, the Hillel Foundation of Arizona State University, the Center for New Directions/Arizona Action for Displaced Homemakers, the City of Phoenix Commission on Housing, the Planned Parenthood of Central and Northern Arizona, B'nai B'rith Anti-Defamation League (Arizona region) and Young Democrats of Arizona.
Honored for his extensive and impeccable work in the legal field, Mr. Franks is AV Preeminent peer-review rated,* the highest rating, through Martindale Hubbell and has been included on The Best Lawyers in America list for family law. He has also been recognized by Arizona Living Magazine as one of Arizona’s leading domestic relations lawyers.
Mr. Franks has lectured and taught at many continuing legal education seminars at various prominent associations and universities. He also serves as a judge pro tem for the Superior Court of Arizona in Maricopa County and as a court-appointed special master.
