Since 2004, Jennifer Arnett has devoted her career to adequately guiding and representing her clients through complex legal issues, primarily focusing her practice area on matters of insurance law. In 2021, Arnett acted as one of several founding members of Arnett Litigation, LLC and currently works at the Boulder-based firm.
Recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® since 2020, Arnett is currently being honored as “Lawyer of the Year” for Insurance Law in Boulder for 2024.
Of her legal career and recent recognition, Arnett stated: “Receiving the “‘Lawyer of the Year’ designation is such an honor. I suspect that a contributing factor was a pair of decisions that were issued in cases I recently won last year. Those decisions have helped develop Colorado’s particular approach to insurance coverage for construction defect matters.
“Insurance coverage work provides an intellectual challenge that I very much enjoy. Each policy plus endorsements is like a complex puzzle. In addition, every day is different. No matter how well I think I might know a particular type of insurance policy, each new matter brings a different angle and changes the way the coverage puzzle is put together. There can be a disconnect between what insurance policies provide and what the expectations are of insureds and their brokers. Bridging this gap in a way that protects both the insurer and the insured can prove challenging.”
With 20 years of legal experience under her belt, Arnett primarily focuses her efforts toward construction defect matters, the outdoor recreation industry and insurance coverage, as previously stated. Additionally, Arnett has also dedicated some professional time to educating, previously serving as a Lecturer-in-Law at her alma mater, Columbia Law School.
“In my opinion, all good attorneys have to be well prepared and produce excellent work and legal materials. That should go without saying. A quote-on-quote ‘great’ attorney also knows how to listen to the client, but also how to provide solid advice to the client. With respect to listening, what is the client’s concern, and what is the desired result? With respect to providing advice, a great attorney has to be able to do this honestly, even if the client doesn’t hear what he or she wants to hear. What are the pros of your case, and what are the cons? How can the cons either be overcome, or how can we work with those to achieve the desired result? What are the risks of different courses of action? In the end, a great attorney is one who the client knows will be well prepared, will produce excellent work and who the client can trust to give solid advice, good or bad.”
