For over 45 years, Rouda, Feder, Tietjen & McGuinn has achieved record-breaking results for clients in cases involving catastrophic personal injuries and wrongful death arising out of auto, truck, bus and pedestrian accidents, workplace and construction site injuries, falls, electrocution, toxic exposure and product defects. We also undertake professional negligence cases, including legal and medical malpractice matters.
John Feder successfully resolved a challenging case against a law enforcement agency. A motorcyclist was lawfully operating his bike on a public roadway when an officer driving at high speed en route to assist another officer lost control of his patrol car, which then careened over the highway and crashed into the cyclist, causing multiple orthopedic injuries. Lawsuits involving motorcycles present unique challenges, particularly when a suit is brought against a public agency.
John developed the case with video footage from the patrol car’s dash camera, buttressed by expert witnesses who recreated the event eyewitness testimony. The combination of that evidence, along with John’s creative approach in dealing with the “speed to aid another” defense, resulted in a $4M resolution.
Cynthia McGuinn and Robert Igleheart prevailed in a complex case involving an out-of-control tour bus that caused injuries to a dozen plaintiffs. Our clients were a mother and daughter who suffered brain, organ and orthopedic injuries. The bus company was underinsured. McGuinn and her team developed evidence showing the local tour bus company was an agent and joint venturer of a much larger out-of-state tour bus company.
After five years of litigation, a global, eight-figure settlement was reached. Thereafter Cynthia tried the allocation case and obtained a seven-figure judgment for our clients, which represented approximately half of the total global settlement funds available for all twelve plaintiffs. An additional six-figure settlement was reached with a construction company that failed to maintain barriers that would have slowed or stopped the bus.
June Bashant obtained seven-and eight-figure settlements arising out of three major auto versus pedestrian cases. These included the wrongful death of a school crossing guard who was struck inside a crosswalk, catastrophically injured tourists involved in a crossover collision on a two-lane country road and an elementary school teacher who was severely injured when a personal transport vehicle collided with the teacher in a stadium parking lot. In addition to her litigation schedule, June remains committed to community service.
This summer she will become a Court Appointed Special Advocate (“CASA”) working with foster youth, and she continues her coaching with high school students participating in mock trials.
June Bashant sums up firm philosophy as “excellence in advocacy, while providing protection, emotional support and resources to assist our clients.” Adds, John Feder: “Our clients’ cases are our causes and we never, ever, give up.”
