With over 30 years of legal experience, Eva Davis has served as a strategic advisor and corporate dealmaker to some of the country’s top private equity funds.
Since starting his practice in 1990, Davis has expertly negotiated for public and private companies, boards of directors, and private equity funds, both domestically and internationally.
A managing partner at Winston & Strawn LLP in Los Angeles, Davis specializes in external affairs and also serves as a member of the firm’s Executive and Compensation Committee.
Recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® since 2016 for Leveraged Buyouts and Private Equity Law as well as Mergers and Acquisitions Law, Davis is honored as “Lawyer of the Year” for Corporate Law in Southern California for 2025.
“After holding various leadership positions at three large, global law firms, I was recently appointed as one of only three managing partners supporting the firm’s new Chairman in the management of Winston & Strawn, an international law firm with 15 offices, nearly 1,000 lawyers, and annual revenues in excess of $1 billion,” said Davis.
As a savvy dealmaker, Davis uses her top-notch business acumen and vast knowledge of market practices and business trends to best advise her clients.
“I am a deal fanatic who loves the art of the deal and figuring out the complicated Rubik’s Cube of deal strategies, tactics and objectives in multi-party negotiations with some of the world’s leading companies and most sophisticated capital providers. Serving as a strategic advisor to some of the most active private equity funds in the country is one of the most rewarding aspects of my ‘day job.’ ”
Over her career, Davis has primarily focused her attention on U.S.-based and cross-border business transactions, garnering deal values ranging from tens of millions of dollars to over $5 billion.
“I am as much a ‘risk assessor’ as a legal advisor,” said Davis. “And, even more so, I need to create deal structures and terms that help my clients manage, price, and minimize risk. Providing that risk assessment in a fast-paced deal environment on a 24/7 basis is the most challenging part of my practice.”
Thirty years in the law have shown Davis that good listening is an essential skill all great lawyers share; but an exceptional attorney goes above and beyond just listening, she said.
“A great attorney is a great listener to clients, creative thinker, collaborative dealmaker and highly responsive,” she said.
“Furthermore, a great attorney not only makes her client’s problems her own, but also looks around the corner to anticipate what is likely coming next as a material issue or roadblock, communicates those issues to her client, and is willing to make recommendations—even unconventional ones—to address those issues before they become problems.”
