Albert is a management-side employment and labor law attorney. For over thirty years, Albert has helped his clients, which range from large international companies and insurers to regional family-owned businesses, navigate the wide-ranging human resource issues all employers face. Although his clients are quite varied, they are concentrated in the manufacturing, healthcare, service, hospitality, financial, and educational sectors.
Albert has deep and broad experience in virtually all areas of employment and labor law. For example, he has:
- Defended clients in federal and state employment discrimination trials
- Represented clients in government agency investigations
- Negotiated union contracts
- Audited wage and hour pay practices/procedures
- Revised employment handbooks
- Conducted workplace harassment investigations
- Trained management and supervisors on employment law compliance
- Drafted and enforced non-competition and other employment agreements
- Given strategic advice on employment practices and philosophies
- Handled workers’ compensation and unemployment compensation hearings
Albert has provided guidance on day-to-day personnel matters such as FMLA situations, employee disciplines, and discharges. His active practice frequently takes him before both federal and state courts and government agencies such as:
- Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
- National Labor Relations Board
- Occupational Safety and Health Administration
- State and Federal Workers’ Compensation
- Unemployment Compensation Bureaus
Albert has taught employment law courses for nearly thirty years. He is a member of the adjunct faculty of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, Penn State University New Kensington, and La Roche University. Albert has served as a guest lecturer at many other institutions of higher learning including Carnegie Mellon University and Duquesne University. Albert has also devoted a significant part of his practice to training and educating executives, HR professionals, in-house attorneys, and all levels of managers and supervisors. He speaks frequently, on a national basis, for HR associations and other trade/business groups.
Albert received his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree in computer science and engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
