Alyssa Hughes focuses her practice on internal investigations, government investigations, white collar criminal defense, and general commercial litigation. She brings superior organization and creates clear, well- developed paths forward for her clients, ranging from individuals to large corporations.
Aly’s experience ranges from large-scale investigations involving multiple federal agencies to representing individuals being investigated by local law enforcement. She advises and represents clients in internal investigations, and she assists corporations and individuals under investigation by government agencies, including the Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of the Inspector General (OIG) and other state attorneys general.
She is experienced in conducting internal investigations and witness preparation for court appearances, federal agency proffers, and depositions. She is skilled in handling electronic discovery issues and has managed virtually all phases of discovery for criminal and civil matters. Aly has been key to resolution of matters in the pharmaceutical, construction, healthcare, and agriculture industries, among others.
Given the diverse client base she works with, Aly is a quick study and has gained experience in various areas of the law, including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), the Anti-Kickback Statute, healthcare fraud, antitrust investigations regarding bid rigging and improper sharing of commercially confidential information among competitors, high-value contract disputes, trade secret misappropriation, and other complex commercial litigation cases.
Aly is trusted by clients and colleagues alike and valued for her direct and down to earth communication style. She works hard to develop connections with her clients, encouraging open dialogue. Building mutual trust and respect is an essential principle of Aly’s practice, as she seeks to guide clients beyond pure legal strategy and through the ancillary practical issues that can arise in the course of these matters.
