Ms. Huston focuses her law practice on corporate and commercial real estate matters. She specializes in large-scale purchase and sale and commercial leasing transactions with respect to a variety of property types, as well as a broad range of matters spanning the life cycle of multi-phased real estate projects, including complex zoning, land use and planning, development, entitlement, infrastructure design and construction, title and survey review, and regularity matters. She advises corporate clients with respect to business organization and restructuring, capitalization, financing, and general corporate and transactional matters, and also serves lenders and borrowers in relation to commercial financing. She is a trusted advisor to her clients who is skilled in and dedicated to helping them build things that matter.
Ms. Huston has lectured on a wide-range of real estate and business law topics, including opportunity zones, brokerage and leasing issues, emerging trends in real estate case law, and construction defect legislation. She also enjoys being meaningfully involved in her community. In 2019, Ms. Huston was selected as an honoree for the BizWest 40 under Forty.
Ms. Huston grew up in Denver, Colorado and graduated Order of the Coif from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2016, earning a certificate in corporate and commercial law. While in law school, she served as an articles editor on the Denver Law Review and as editor in chief of Race to the Bottom, a collaborative blog covering current laws and regulations governing corporations. She was also a recipient of the Excellence in Land Use Law Student award from the Rocky Mountain Land Use Institute.
Ms. Huston also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication studies with a minor in political science, and a Master of Arts in communication studies from the University of Northern Colorado. While earning her Master of Arts degree, Ms. Huston served as an instructor of public speaking and first year experience courses at the university. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Huston worked at the Greeley Downtown Development Authority where she developed a passion for becoming an advocate for businesses.
After law school, Ms. Huston clerked at for the Honorable David M. Furman at the Colorado Court of Appeals. Prior to joining Coan, Payton & Payne, LLC, Ms. Huston spent 6 weeks in an intensive Spanish immersion program in Spain.
