Avery Pardee is a partner in the Litigation Practice Group. She is a career defense attorney and represents clients in white collar criminal matters, internal and government investigations, and commercial litigation. Avery has significant experience defending and advising individuals as well as publicly traded companies, private businesses, and other entities with respect to internal investigations, government and grand jury investigations, criminal prosecutions, parallel proceedings, regulatory enforcement actions, and False Claims Act litigation. At trial and on appeal, Avery represents individuals and entities accused of white collar crimes, with a particular focus on alleged tax offenses, sexual misconduct, and other alleged violations of law. She also conducts post-conviction work, representing the wrongfully convicted or wrongfully sentenced to secure relief after direct appeal remedies have been exhausted. Avery acts as an outside Title IX and student conduct investigator, hearing chair, and appellate chair for colleges and universities. She is on the United Educators’ list of approved sexual misconduct investigators. She separately advises colleges and universities, faculty members, and students on sensitive matters. Having worked on these and other issues from a variety of perspectives, Avery draws on lessons learned and best practices to effectively represent her clients in virtually every forum, including the court of public opinion. Avery conducts internal investigations, assists clients with responses to government investigations and subpoenas, and works with clients to develop, implement, and update compliance programs, with a particular focus on anti-bribery investigations under the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), the UK Bribery Act, and similar laws. She works with clients to implement comprehensive compliance measures, including developing compliance policies, conducting internal investigations, recommending remedial measures, and, where appropriate, formulating defense strategies. Avery has a robust commercial litigation practice that includes False Claims Act qui tam litigation, shareholder derivative and corporate governance litigation, civil RICO litigation, fraud litigation, and other complex commercial disputes. She is an aggressive litigator who works with clients to understand the various outcomes and risks, formulate effective litigation strategies, and efficiently protect their interests and achieve their litigation goals. Avery is the 2022 president of the Louisiana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Louisiana Chapter leader of the Women’s White Collar Defense Association.
