For the past 17 years, Benjamin R. Grau (Ben) has maintained a diverse litigation, transactional, and insurance coverage practice extending across state and federal courts of Louisiana and Texas, as well as other jurisdictions around the country. Ben has wide-ranging experience spanning across multiple practices areas, including defending premises liability actions, negotiating commercial contracts, and trying a multi-million construction defect and product liability class actions.
Ben is particularly adept at handling complex matters in the areas of construction law and defect litigation, general commercial litigation, insurance coverage, business interruption, premises and product liability, onshore and offshore oil and gas casualty/blowout litigation, and admiralty/maritime litigation. He is a member of the New Orleans Bar Association, and Federal Bar Association, where he served as a past board member for the New Orleans chapter. Ben has also earned an “AV Preeminent” rating from Martindale-Hubbell based on evaluation by his peers.
Originally from New Orleans, Ben attended Jesuit High School and Tulane University, where he earned both his undergraduate degree and juris doctorate. Ben began his legal career practicing primarily in New Orleans, until January 2006 when he and his family relocated to Dallas, Texas as a result of Hurricane Katrina. While in Texas Ben continued his professional development and expanded his practice. However, in January 2011, Ben returned to New Orleans, the city he has always called “home.”
