Brooke is an established defendant insurance lawyer with over 15 years experience including general and commercial insurance, workers’ compensation, product and public liability, motor vehicle and professional indemnity.
She is an experienced advisor, advocate and negotiator, who provides tailored advice and is actively involved in the insurance industry.
Over the years Brooke has worked for a broad range of insurers and insureds. Her diverse claims portfolio covers workplace, construction, local government, mining, labour hire, catastrophic and birth defect, dependency, nervous shock, burn injuries, recovery, large scale industrial and commercial fire and natural disaster.
Brooke is well versed in the UCPR, Personal Injuries Proceedings Act 2002, Civil Liability Act 2003, Workers’ Compensation & Rehabilitation Act 2003, Motor Accident & Insurance Act 1994, Insurance Contracts Act 1982 and Competition & Consumer Act 2010 and brings this experience to bear in her management of claims.
Additionally her expertise includes response consideration for various insurance policy wordings, including broadform liability, directors and officers’ liability, marine, ISR Mark IV, motor vehicle fleet and professional indemnity.
Brooke has acted in numerous matters involving dual insurance. She is also able to effectively manage the inherent difficulties of acting on behalf of and balancing the interested of insureds and underwriters in large deductible claims.
She enjoys being actively involved in investigating claims, including attending the site, reviewing all relevant documents and taking witness statements directly. Brooke has extensive experience in briefing experts from a variety of disciplines in order to aid the successful defence of claims.
Having worked previously in house for a workers’ compensation insurer, Brooke gained valuable insight to understand clients’ needs, both in terms of proactive claims management and timely and accurate reserving. She maintains a commercial focus for her clients and understands the importance of the big picture whilst managing, and defending to trial if necessary, each claim according to its merits.
